How do I get mp3 ringtones on my phone?

I have a Pantech Jest, and I want to change my ringtone. I've gotten my phone to use mp3's as ringtones numerous times, but I keep forgetting, and I never write it down because I'm an idiot. For some reason, even though the phone can play mp3's it won't play them as ringtones. VZWpix always sends it as a .QCP, so does phonezoo, and everything else. I keep sending it as an mp3 but always ends up as a .QCP. I don't have an SD card and won't get one, so don't even bother suggesting that
